About the Center "I like the fact of having WiFi available in the patient waiting area. This is a good idea for business people like myself who can use the time wisely (still making money) even while waiting to be seen by the doctor. I might add that I would like to commend the staff, the wait isn't long...Thank God!!! "
~ C. Jones  Brittany Rigsby - Certified Registered Nurse Brittany Rigsby is a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and has been practicing since 2002. Mrs. Rigsby graduated magna cum laude from Samford University School of Nursing with a Master of Science in Nursing. Mrs. Rigsby has received specialized training in dermatology and has been providing a wide range of dermatological services to patients for over 6 years. She can examine, diagnose, treat and prescribe appropriate treatment for patients of all ages. She can perform procedures such as biopsy, cryotherapy and chemical peels.Brittany Rigsby is nationally certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is licensed by the Alabama Board of Nursing. She is a member of the Nurse Practitioner Society of the Dermatology Nurses’ Association. Mrs. Rigsby has participated in research studies for the treatment of Psoriasis and Actinic Keratoses (pre-cancers). Brittany resides in Hoover, Alabama with her husband and two boys. Her husband is a Lieutenant with the Hoover Fire Department. 
Christina - Christina is a native of Birmingham, AL. She attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she received her Bachelor of Science with honors in Marketing. Christina brings 10 years of business to business and banking experience to Skin Wellness Center of Alabama. While working as a banker, she received her life insurance, variable annuity, and investment advisor representative licenses. Her professional experience includes working for IBM, United Healthcare, and Wachovia. Christina is a former UAB Cheerleader and Atlanta Hawks Dancer and enjoys choreographing for local church dance ministries as well as high school and college spirit teams. In Christina's spare time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter, family, and friends.Clinical Staff  Cheryl - Clinical Coordinator Cheryl is a native of Longbeach, CA. She graduated from Jefferson State Community College and Birmingham College of Allied Health (Magna Cum Laude). Cheryl is a certified Histotech and Phlebotomist.She brings over twenty-five years of medical experience to the Skin Wellness Center of Alabama and twelve of those years specializing in dermatology. In addition to her dermatology experience, Cheryl worked as an Assistant Buyer and Cosmetic Manager for Parisians. Cheryl has one son, Brett, who resides in Nashville, TN. In her spare time she volunteers with the Adult Literacy Program, Nursing Home Association, and Breast Cancer Awareness organizations. Additionally, Cheryl enjoys traveling and listening to jazz.  Stephanie – Medical Assistant Stephanie is originally from Gardendale, AL and a 2011 graduate of Virginia College Medical Assistant Program with an Associates Degree. While in school, she was the two year-old teach for a local daycare. Stephanie has a passion for children; however, she has always had wanted to be in the Medical field and loves helping and caring for people. Stephanie is so glad to be a part of Skin Wellness Center of Alabama and excited to be on the team. While away from work, she loves spending time with her friends. She also believes family is extremely important. Stephanie lost her mother when she was senior in high school; therefore, treasures the family she has left. Miriam – Medical Assistant Miriam was born and raised in San Diego, CA (Go Chargers!), but her parents are originally from San Pedro Sula, Henduras Central America. Miriam and her parents moved to Alabama in 2002 to open up a Hispanic Christian Church called Mana Del Cielo. Miriam graduated from high school in 2007 with honors. While in high school, she completed two years of cosmetology; therefore, makeup is her art. Miriam is a recent graduate of Virginia College and a proud Bilingual Medical Assistant. She recently got married on June 11, 2011 to the love of her life, Marcos. Miriam enjoys helping people and very dedicated to what she does. She loves God with all her heart and thanks her parents for raising her as well as they did. Sara - Sara is a Pinson, AL native where she graduated from Valley High School. After graduation Sara worked with State Farm insurance and Diamond Rubber in sales and customer service. Sara is outgoing, enjoys meeting people and making them feel welcome. She enjoys spending time camping and hiking. She adores her two nephews, Jackson and Carter, and loves teaching them things and exploring the great outdoors with them!
 Mayra Knight – Bilingual Front Office Receptionist/Medical AssistantI was born and raised in Jalisco, Mexico where I acquired a Degree in Nutrition. My passion for traveling and learning brought me to Birmingham, AL where I met my adventurous husband. I also continued my education as a Medical Assistant and Medical Interpreter. As a result, I pursue any body related wellness activities, such as: healthy eating, yoga and reflexology. Furthermore, I consider it eminent to be in contact with nature, to practice gardening, and to have shooting skills! I am a Christian and love my family.  Lisa Shoemaker – I am a native of Birmingham, Alabama and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I have experience working in the spa industry as well as plastic surgery. I love this industry because I am all about good health and taking care of yourself in the best possible way you can….healthy diet, exercise and adequate rest. I also have an AFAA certification for personal strength Training, so exercise is a big part of my life. More importantly, my family is priority! I have three children that complete the circle of life for me. Aesthetician
 Ty - Ty is a graduate of Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, AL. She received her certification in Aesthetics and is also a licensed Esthetician. She has a son named Tyler who she loves and enjoys watching play sports. Additionally, Ty is a makeup artist. Ty enjoys all types of things, but loves skin and beauty. She says that beauty starts within and works its way out. We are all beautiful in our own way. |
