What is the recovery period for BOTOX?
Botox is one of those cosmetic procedures that can be considered a lunchtime procedure. You can get it done during your lunch break and head back to office to continue your day as usual!
The entire process of having a Botox treatment lasts about 20 minutes at the longest, including preparation time. Once the procedure is completed your doctor will usually take you over a brief session on how to care for the treated area. Most of the time and with careful placement, Botox can be administered to the frown lines and other fine lines on the face without any sort of bruising or redness. You may feel slight discomfort during the procedure but this is usually controlled by placing ice on the affected area. There is no particular post operation care necessary for Botox. Immediately after the treatment, you are required to remain upright in a seated position for the next three hours. Lying down flat is not recommended. Your doctor will also ask you to be very expressive so that it facilitates the medicine to work its way through all of the muscles where it has been treated. If it’s your first treatment, then there is a possibility of minor headaches. Although you may be able to continue with your usual lifestyle, it is better to avoid exercising immediately after the Botox administration. It may also help to keep some ice packs handy, just in case bruising occurs. Ice packs will help with any bruising and keep swelling to a minimum. But remember, do not attempt to massage the area where the Botox has been administered. If the bruising persists for longer than one to two days, it can be covered by make up or cosmetics. Onica cream or pills can also be taken to help the bruising resolve faster. Make sure you ask your doctor for any medication that you need. Most patients typically do very well and don't require any special attention after the treatment. Related Articles
