Botox Alabama - How long do Botox® results last?
The results of Botox are highly variable among patients. Generally, the muscles stay relaxed for four to six months after the Botox treatment. Some patients who have been receiving Botox treatments for many years find that they can go for a longer duration without requiring another treatment. However, there are many factors that can contribute to how long Botox will work on any given patient. Health, age, body type, and weight can all effect how long the results will last.
The lines that are formed that are treated with Botox are a result of muscles that are over active and become larger with overuse. The lines represent the spaces between the muscles and they are more accentuated when the muscles become bigger. So like any other muscle in the body, if it is not allowed to be used then it will not become larger, and therefore the lines between them will not be as apparent. Commonly referred to as hypertrophy, this occurs when Botox is administered on a regular basis. The muscles don't get the chance to grow larger; therefore there is not a need for as frequent treatment, as if the patient has not been receiving Botox on a regular basis. Some people, on the other hand, are fast metabolizers and no matter how many times they have Botox treatments repeatedly performed they will not last as long as other people who are slow metabolizers. This is because the medicine stays around for a longer period of time and exerts an effect for longer periods of time as well. The Botox treatment should be administered by a board certified dermatologist. The safety and satisfaction of our patients is our number one priority.
